Programs
It takes more than food to fight hunger, and the Food Bank of East Alabama provides a variety of programs to meet those needs.
Partner Agencies: The Food Bank works every day to provide nutritious food to people struggling with hunger. After food arrives at our distribution center and is sorted by our staff and volunteers, it is then distributed to our network of partner agencies—organizations that include food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters. Our partner agencies are on the frontlines every day, serving people in need. They form a diverse, dynamic and passionate network and are our best allies in the fight against hunger. And they rely on the Food Bank for consistent access food all year round.
Produce Reclamation and Distribution Program allows the Food Bank to procure and distribute fresh produce. Last year, 28% of the food distributed by the Food Bank was fresh produce.
Volunteer Program: Our volunteers are absolutely vital to the Food Bank. Our volunteer work area features 12,000 square feet that can accommodate individual and group volunteers. For more information or to volunteer, click here.
