The Community Market, launched in January of 2003, functions as an extension of the Food Bank of East Alabama to provide direct food relief to low-income residents of Lee County. It offers client-choice food selection in a grocery store atmosphere at a convenient location on Pepperell Parkway in Opelika.
MISSION STATEMENT:
The Community Market of the Food Bank of East Alabama increases access to healthy food for all people in need in ways that cultivate dignity, self-sufficiency, and community.
The Community Market functions as an extension of the Food Bank of East Alabama.
The FBEA Community “Market” is committed to supporting Lee County residents. The Market prioritizes the health and safety of our community, volunteers, and staff. During 2020 and 2021, the Community Market suspended choice shopping and provided perishable and nonperishable items through a distribution model due to COVID-19.
Beginning April 6, 2022, we re-opened the doors for choice-shopping for appointments scheduled on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Saturday appointments are now available on the first and second Saturday of the month. Appointment days/times are strictly enforced.
